Here is what we are about!

The Sustainable Management of Rangeland Resources (SMRR) Initiative Team has assembled this website as part of their effort at providing targeted, in-depth educational programming and information in Rangeland Resources.  The team’s focus is outlined in the Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service’s Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan outlines five initiative areas which shall be the focus of the Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service.

The SMRR Team's efforts currently are divided into several "Issue Teams" which have the following projects underway.

Range Management Schools

A partnership established with Wyoming Section of the Society for Range Management has brought this series of schools (101, 301, and 501) to various Wyoming locations.  Click to visit the page listing the current schedule and to download registration information.  The Range School Page

New to the Land

An effort to consolidate educational efforts directed at small acreage owners - or "new to the land" people.  Please visit the Barnyards and Backyards site for wonderful information developed specifically for inhabitants of smaller acreages.

Range Livestock Systemics

An effort with our Sustainable Agriculture Systems colleagues to provide wide perspective looks at current agriculture issues with regard to how operators might respond and how their total operations might be impacted.

Rangeland Science and Ecology for every 4-H Project

Another collaboration with extension colleagues in 4-H/Youth work to provide lessons and activities 4-H leaders can use in their 4-H project meetings to increase member understanding of the science and ecology touching their project.

Drought

A collection of educational materials which will assist producers in managing through the drought which has afflicted Wyoming.  Be sure to check the drought planning and management link above.

Exploring Nature of Wyoming - TV

A series of video clips, which are 60 second snippets on natural resource topics.  They have been aired on statewide television and are destined for DVD where they can be employed as discussion leaders for a variety of educational program situations.

Wyoming Natural Resources - Radio

A series of audio clips destined for distribution to Wyoming Radio Stations.  This effort is a build on the TV spot concept.

WyoRange Facts

A series of fact sheets providing information on topics important to Wyoming land management.
